The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Frustration About Sizing Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.

The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Modifications

Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Member Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
