Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
